I bought this for my in-laws since it had all the features that they wanted. But it is not a good quality phone and I have found another one with more features that works much better. The problem is the amplification is not clear, plus the phone is not of good quality so it doesn't always work well even when not amplifying the sound. Look for the uniden phone that has all these features and a wireless phone too.
We bought this telephone for our mother who has Macular Degeneration. She loves the big numbers and finds the phone easy to use. The only probem she has had is the "record" button is next to the "playback" button for the answering machine. She had a tendency to hit the wrong button until we used red nail polish to distinguish the two.
The buttons are huge, but if you press them anywhere but in the exact center they don't work. Talk about frustrating. Also, the other reviewer was dead-on: sound quality is terrible. Plus, the answering machine cuts off phone messages after ten seconds.
The louder it is the more difficult it is to understand.The answering macine barely worked when it was new. What if you're 500 miles away and want to call in for your messages. Think in terms of a very cheap speaker turned up to high volume. As claimed, you can dial up the volume, but it is not clearer as advertised. I used one of these for about 2 years before a lightning strike finally gave it a death blow. Amazon is to be commended for not having this product available (as of this writing). This falls into the realm of, "what were they thinking,' when they designed the answering system. You have to go to where the phone is located to hear the messages.
Look elsewhere for a phone and anwsering system. A glaring design flaw is that there is no way to pick up your calls from a remote location. The phone, as designed, has serious deficiencies. It has large buttons, which is a good thing, however, they are more difficult to push down than other phones. Messages were often garbled to the point of not being understandable. You can't call in and get your messages. This phone has a high price for what is really a very cheaply built product. I expect that most would be returned.
